Discovery Centres

The Ulster Museum interactive discovery centres, Discover Art, History and Nature offer unique and exciting learning experiences to people of all ages. This is where you can get hands-on with some of the most unusual and fascinating items from our collections.

Discovery Centres are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, all year long.
Our Discovery Centres are here for you to explore our museum collections in a new and exciting way. Investigate objects from art, nature and history in our drop-in interactive sessions. Please note, Discovery Centres can be booked by school groups, so it may not always be possible to gain access to all or some of the centres during your visit.

Deepen your connection to the Ulster Museum collections and enjoy object handling in our free Family Focus Sessions on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th December from 14:00 to 15:00.

On Saturday 13th December, create your own pencil portrait in Discover Art. Fascinated by the Girona? Learn about the science of shipwrecks in Discover Nature. Drop into Discover History to uncover our mystery object this month.

On Sunday 14th December, visit Discover Art to make your own clay decoration. Unearth facts about Deer in Discover Nature - do you know your bucks from your does? Head to Discover History to see a Princess Mary Tin from 1914.
