In 2023, Lanto Synge, celebrated author of The Art of Embroidery (2001), regarded as one of the most authoritative guides to historic needlework, donated his unparalleled collection to the Ulster Museum. Many of the works included in his gift are exceptionally rare and represent some of the finest examples of embroidery craftsmanship.
